6-3-22 Lake Erie Walleye Fishing Report

Launch Location - Fenwick Marina - Oak Harbor, Ohio

We left the marina at 7am and the lake was a little rough out of the NW. We decided to have some fun and cast our Mayfly-Magic Rigs for a little bit before trolling. We caught a handful of nice size walleye on them in 24' of water. What a riot! 3/4oz weight counted down to a 10-12 count was best. Just a slow retrieve with an occasional "pop" of the rod to give some action was best. After an hour or so of casting, we pulled out the trolling gear. We headed out to 30' of water and found a very active school of fish. Had lines set around 8:30am and the box was full by 9:30am. Very fast bite again. The size zero dipsy divers on zero settings and 3 settings were HOT! 30-55 back on the zero settings and 68 back on the 3 setting was best. Michigan Stinger Spoons and Badmo spoons did the damage. Trolled 2.5-2.8mph. Caught fish on spoons behind tadpoles and suspending bandits as well, but we didn't leave the planer boards out long as we couldn't keep up with the dipsy diver rods. The fishing the last few days has been absolutely insane! Doubles, triples, quads and even more on at a time. Played catch and release for a little while before pulling gear and heading in. If you don't have dipsy divers on your boat, you better get some! They have been absolutely killer and are so quick and easy to get in/out of the water. Very effective and efficient way of trolling. When they are on, it can take only a matter of minutes to fill the live well with walleye!
