6-2-23 Lake Erie Walleye Report
Lake Erie blessed us with another beautiful morning on the water. Warm, sunny, calm seas, a limit of walleye and another epic sunrise. We left Fenwick Marina early and headed to the shallow area we fished Tuesday. There were still fish in that area but not near the same quantity and the pods there weren't wanting to eat. The water was very clear compared to Tuesday, which had 1' or less visibility. We pulled 3 decent fish and a few shorts and left to look for something better. We ran past a vessel setting nets in 22' of water NW of the launch, so heads up in that area. After checking numerous other areas we finally found some good marks in 22-26' of water on the reef complex. The area was LOADED with fish. It was a mix of keeper walleye, short walleye and . We sorted through a bunch of shorts and sheep's to box a nice bag of walleye. Thank goodness we were running our Diver Leaders on our board rods because we caught a few GIANT sheepshead that were spinning like helicopters. The leaders did their job. Zero line twist and no mess from the sheep. Boy were the arms sore after dragging those board sinkers in. Cranks were hot Tuesday and cold today. They caught plenty of sheepshead and a few keeper walleye today but spoons were much better. Our best program was Size Zero Dipsy Divers on Zero settings with 48" diver leaders and Stinger Scorpion/Badmo Spoons 30-40' back. Size 1 Tadpoles with 36" Diver Leaders and Scorpion Stinger Spoons 45-60' back behind the Offshore Tackle Planer Boards were the next best. Purple Demon was our best color again. Speed was 1.9-2.2 mph. S turns triggered bites today but yo-yoing the dipsy divers triggered many of our bites. FISH-ON
