6-25-22 Lake Erie Walleye Fishing Report
Launch Location - Fenwick Marina - Oak Harbor, Ohio
Left the dock at 5:30am and watched the sun come up. Beautiful sunrise on Lake Erie. Started in close and fished 20-23' of water. Started pulling fish instantly but we were getting a lot of sheepshead and short walleye. After an hour or so, the area started to get taken over with boats and got very crowded. With 4 keepers in the box, we decided to go look for another area out of the crowd. We moved a few miles and into a little deeper water. We found some great marks in 25' of water. After trolling for a little bit with minimal action, we made some adjustments and started pulling fish. Spoons behind size zero dipsy divers early was the ticket. 40 back on the zero setting and 68 back on the 2 setting was best for the dipsy divers and spoons. As the sun got higher in the sky, crankbaits started firing. We caught fish on shaky shads, boogie shads and bandits. Bandits at 50' back caught the most, but the other cranks pulled their fair share. We caught a few keeper walleye on spoons during the hot crank bite but not as many as early morning. Spoons behind tadpoles caught some keepers as well. The spread today was really a mix and everything played a role in catching the group their limit of Lake Erie walleye! They wanted everything fast today. 2.7-2.9mph was our best speed. Water temp was 74 degrees. Less mayflies in the areas we fished today. Circling the active pod near the end of the trip produced doubles and some good action to end on! If you want to fish with us click HERE to visit our Get Fish Charters website.
