Lake Erie Walleye Report
This is another massive Lake Erie fishing report with 7 reports coming from different locations across the Lake Erie shores. We break down each port location with some fresh reports from some great Lake Erie captains and anglers. This week we cover reports from Oak Harbor, OH all the way to Buffalo, NY. Reports covering everything from the yellow perch bite in the far western basin to walleye and steelhead reports from all across the lake. Make sure to check out these captains and give them a shout if you are looking to get out on Lake Erie to chase some fish! Hats off to all captains and anglers for taking the time to provide these reports! We break the reports down from the west end of Lake Erie to the east end. Enjoy 👍

Perch fishing has remained good on the western end of Lake Erie. The Fishing Addiction Gear Perch Fly Rigs continue to dominate!!! We are tipping them with a cut shiner. Running a snelled hook off the sinker snap can do magic sometimes! We have been working 18 to 23ft of water. Over the last week we have caught them in a few different areas. They move around day to day, you just have to find them! Some days we want the rigs up a few feet off the bottom, but most days, they want it on the bottom, just have to try different tactics. Laying the rig slack on the bottom produces very well at times. Many times they hit the rig when it's sitting dead still. We have still been fishing around the Toledo water intake area and the cans areas. Purple, orange and mountain Dew have been the best color Perch Fly Rigs for us this week!! Good luck out there! - Captian Greg Kipps.

First day back on the water after being out of town for a few days. It took me a minute to dial them in though. It started off fast. We had 5 in short order, but it died just as quick. A buddy said he was doing well not too far away from me, so I packed up and headed that way. We caught some nice fish over there! We fished out of Huron. Fishing was best in 45' of water and deeper. Dipsy Divers working 30 feet down with spoons did the trick. 2.5 mph was best. 0 setting 60 back and a 2 setting 90 back.

It’s officially steelhead season. This week we’ve been able to catch some nice silver bullets in 68-72 fow NE of Lorain. Dipseys with large Badmo and moonshine spoons have been the best. Anything with UV tape and also blue or orange have been working well. Mixed in with steelhead are a really nice grade of walleye. Speed has been 3 mph with our best dipsy settings as follows: 0.5 setting-90', 2 setting-115', 3.5 setting-140'. Good luck everyone!

Another great morning out on the water for Jim Savage and group! We stopped well short of where we have been fishing and it was a pretty steady bite with only a handful of shorts. It seemed the further north we got today, the less marks and slower action. I’m glad we stopped where we did! We are still primarily fishing 72-74’ of water, 10 - 15 miles out. We are usually targeting 50-55’ down. Dipsy Divers with big spoons, 300’ of wire With 24a bombers and junior thundersticks. Still battling a lot of short fish but limits more than common every day.

Today we fished in 75' to 78' fow. There are lots of smelt out there. The fish were spitting them up in the net and they were still alive! Talk about matching the hatch with the thundersticks! Thunderstick Jr’s on wire 300' back were really good. Dipsy Divers with Spoons. Michigan stinger in pickle seed, and frost bite have been good. Size 1 Dipsy on 1 setting at 110' back, 2 setting at 145' back and the 3 setting at 190' back. Speed 2.6 to 3.2 - Captain Jamie

Off the lighthouse of Presque Isle- Lots of good walleye being caught outside the pack of smaller fish; targeting 65’-75’ and as deep as 90’ at times. With lots of fish staying high in the water column. Out into the 85-90’+ we have been running additional lines for steelhead. 400 weighted steel and 300 weighted steel w spoons & riggers. The walleye fishing- The five cores and bomber 24a’s have been the bread winners. Jet 30’s and small spoons to target the bug eaters at first light have pitched into the box well. Our speed at ball has been picking up 2.6-2.8 average. 3.0 divers 110’ back and as far as 160’ back. 1.5 divers 65’ back. Riggers have been producing well at 45’ down and deeper. I anticipate the high fish to fall down soon and the river bite will dominate.

Warm waters on the eastern end (Buffalo) has pushed the school west. Barcelona to the Catt has been very good. There are a lot of short fish. We have been catching 40-50 shorts to get a limit of sizable fish. Depths are consistent in the 60-80’ fow bottom ten feet in the 60’s. The deeper water has better fish, just less numbers. Also fish seed to be suspended 40-50’ down over 80 fow. Inlines are my go to pulling worms on harnesses. 2oz 125-150' back, 3oz 75-110' back, 5oz running on the bottom. 1.3-1.4 mph Bring extra worms to sort through the small fish.
