7-8-23 Lake Erie Multi-Port Fishing Report

Lake Erie Walleye Fishing Report
This is another massive Lake Erie fishing report with 8 reports coming from 7 different locations across the Lake Erie shores. We break down each port location with some fresh reports from some great Lake Erie captains. This week we cover reports from Oak Harbor, OH all the way to Buffalo, NY. Reports covering everything from the yellow perch bite in the far western basin to walleye reports from all across the lake. Some glimpses of steelhead are mixed in around the OH/PA line. Make sure to check out these captains and give them a shout if you are looking to get out on Lake Erie to chase some fish! Hats off to them for taking the time to provide these reports! We break the reports down from the west end of Lake Erie to the east end. Enjoy 👍

We started close to home and made a 2.5mile pass only pulling one walleye and 5 sheephead along with a few drive byes before making the decision to pick up and making a 10 mile move which panned out to be a great decision 🙂
It wasn't fast and furious but we kept working an active pod of fish - if we got to far south we got out of the fish and if we went to far North it was Sheephead galore.
We pulled Rattle Tots 80' to 100' back and Big Fish Tuff Tackle Co. 40 Tru-Trips and Stinger Spoons but they only produced a ton of shorts, so we pulled the spoons off and ran Tots on both sides to tame the shorts. We then made our way to up to 39 walleyes and 2 nice Yellow Perch for the day!
Tomorrow is our last trip in the Western Basin at our Oak Harbor Ohio location, loading Special-Eyes IV on to the trailer Sunday morning to take her to Lorain for the rest of the season to chase Walleye and Steelhead.

Hey everybody! We have still been after them little fish made of gold!!! The yellow perch bite on Lake Erie has been pretty consistent still for me. I have been fishing in 19 to 21 feet of water out of the Oak Harbor area. The last time out the purple color Perch Fly Rig was our best color but the color "holo shiner" Perch Fly Rig was hot also. It seems like the perch aren't want a tight line lately. We have been dropping to the bottom and then giving about 6 to 8 inches of slack in the line. This has been getting them going. We are tipping the Perch Fly Rigs with small shiners. We have also been working the Perch Slammer Rig into the rotation with some success. Hope this helps you anglers out! Good luck - Captian Greg Kipps.

Fun in the Sun! These two families have been fishing with me since 2018 and have fished a different month and weather day each year. Today was the day for some wind and waves. The wind had Lake Erie kicked up today.  We ran Tru-Trip 40s with spoons on one side of the boat 30-45' back. We ran Crawler Harnesses on the other side. Tru Trip 50’s 31' back and Size 1 Dipsy Divers on a 3 setting 41' back both did stellar with harnesses. We are back at it tomorrow. - Capt Jerod

Fishing remains outstanding from Vermilion to Lorain in 50’ of water. Very few throwbacks with many keepers to be had. Flicker 11s 80-120' back both unassisted (no weight) and assisted with 2oz weights at the 20 ft mark have been great. Both large and small Badmo lures spoons have been on fire off Dipsy Divers on a 1 setting 60' back and 3 setting 85' back. Speed has been around 2.2-2.5 mph with a water temp of 75 degrees. Good luck from 504 sportfishing and have a great rest of your summer!

Today's group was from Illinois and it was their first time fishing a great lake. They picked a good day to do so, the lake was nice and the fish were biting!
We fished further north today well away from the pack in Lorain. It was a very steady bite with doubles and triples. We did find a few sheep and a couple of shorts today as well. But the overall size of fish that were caught today was very good. The Goldaliscious Reaper continues to pull bigger fish. The past few trips it has consistently pulled the biggest fish of the day and today was no different.
My smaller profile baits struggled again today, so they were pulled from the lineup altogether. Dipsy divers were very good early, but then slowed way down as the morning progressed.
Reapers and Mad Eye Minnows were ran 75 to 115 back. Flicker 11s were 40/40 and 30/30 with a 2oz. I also ran two Flicker 11s 25/25 with a 3oz too. I only caught one fish on a Bandit today, they have been very slow for me lately. BADMO LURES put in work early on my dipsy program. 1.5 setting 75 back and a 0 setting 40 back. Speed was 2.3ish. Good luck fishing! - Captain Bob

We have been fishing in 55-65’ of water the last few days. We are running one side of the boat high and targeting the walleye in the fly hatch up in the top 15’ of the water column. Jet 30’s with small spoons 50’ back for the high fish. Once the sun is up leads are 150-175’ back. Riggers 40-50’ down. Divers targeting 45+. 5 color with spoons early then 5 color with mid divers when the sun is up. Walnut creek currently has some of the biggest fish in PA water. Get to the docks early to get a parking spot. Steelhead have been mixed in as well. Good luck out there!

The walleye bite has been strong from the NY line around Barcelona to Sun Set Bay in Hanover. Depths of 55-65’. Most fish are hugging the bottom. However, each day the big school has been migrating east. Moving 2/3 miles every day, depending on winds. 4/5oz bottom bouncers with night crawler harnesses and inline weights are all I use. #5 colorado blades on the harnesses. Mostly green colors. Off the planer boards we are running 2oz in line weights set at 75' and 3oz in line weights set at 100' back. The water surface temp has been hanging around 72 degrees. Limits of walleye have been pretty consistent each day.
