9-5 Lake Erie Fishing Report
Conneaut River Channel - Conneaut, Ohio
Couldn't get out on the main lake today. Winds were stiff and the lake was ROLLING. The break walls were taking a beating. We decided to go exploring for a few hours. Scanned the Conneaut River Channel and found fish in a few places. This channel runs right to Lake Erie. Got dialed in on some slab crappies! We caught crappie, perch, white bass and sheephead. It was an unexpected great success! We released all of the fish. Got rained on the entire morning but it was fairly light. All fish caught on our Perch Fly Rigs in 8-15 ft of water. Best action was near the mouth of the Conneaut River bridge. Watched two bald eagles hang out up on top of the coal plant towers. That was awesome to see. Also note, we caught perch from 5" up to 9". Hoping this is a good sign for future East side perch fishing. No smaller fish caught on the main lake yesterday, but good to know there are some in the harbors.
