4-15-23 Lake Erie Walleye Jigging Report
What a beautiful morning on the water! Amazing weather and an even better sunrise. Yesterday the jig bite was slow and trolling was hot. Today we never got the trolling rods out as we had excellent action jigging blade baits. We left the channel from Fenwick Marina around 630 this morning and struck gold on the first cast. The action was hot early in the morning. It was almost every cast for the first 30 minutes. 11-12ft of water was a great bite before the sun was up and 1,987 boats ran by. The fish bumped out to 15-16 after the sun broke the horizon. We ued the trolling motor to create a .5mph drift with the lack of wind. We casted and bounced the blades back to the boat. Captain Jays Blade Baits in Yellow Chartreuse were best for us. Water temp was 56 degrees. Also caught a few sheep, white perch and catfish. The male walleye were still doing their thing all over the boat Side note: the females we caught trolling yesterday were all spawned out. Insane amount of boat traffic. Keep your head on a swivel as they were flying by from every direction. Good luck the rest of the weekend! FISH-ON
