5-5-24 Lake Erie Walleye Report

5-5-24 Lake Erie Walleye Report - Oak Harbor, OH

We left Fenwick Marina much earlier Sunday as the waves/wind were finally going to play nice after two days of getting beat up. This ended up being the best bite of a 3 day stretch by far. Just after sunrise we started setting lines in the 15-17' of water we found the day before. As soon as we got lines in the water boards were going back. We were tripled up within a few minutes of setting gear. Seeing boards shoot back on a hot bite with a perfect Lake Erie sunrise in the background is hard to beat. This was a much improved start to the day vs the previous two days. Within the first 30 minutes we had 10 of our 18 fish. It was madness. Once we got to 10, about 50-75 boats surrounded us and the bite completely shut down. We got away from the pack and picked a few off but it was very slow for a few hours. We made a big move east and ended up on some great marks in 20' of water. The fish weren't cooperating at first but then the school turned on and we grabbed the last few fish of our limit quickly. 30 minutes of troll time for 10 fish then 2.5 hours for 8 fish was the story of our day. Started red hot and ended with a slow pick. We didn't mind it taking longer to get the last since it was calm and extremely comfortable weather. We got spoons to start firing on this trip. Stinger Scorpion Spoons paired with 48'' Diver Leaders behind Offshore size 1 tadpoles at 35-45' back. Bandit Walleye Deep & Bandit Suspending Minnows 30-70' back. Speed was 2.0-2.3mph. We had to slow down a little from the previous day. Doing circles and turns into the wind triggered the most bites. A good average size grade of fish with some very nice ones mixed in. Water temp was 61 degrees. We were fishing water with a good stain to it. Lake Erie blessed us this trip and created some great memories on the water! Good luck out there fellow fishing 🅰️DDICTS!
